Sack the Mayor if he cannot perform his job
If the Kuala Lunpur City Hall mayor Datuk Seri Kamaruzzaman Mat Salleh cannot perform his job, why is the Madani government still keeping him?
Just see how the rough the patches are on this road. Has the mayor even gone down to the ground to see the complaints?
This complaint has reached his ears and those of DBKL’s PRO Zurida Hashim on a number of occasions. Yet, nothing is done!

Who Else Can We Complain to?
The Yang DiPertuan Agong (YDPA)?
The same matter has also been raised with Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh and Federal Territories Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa as well. Both at least responded, but what we want is to see improvement to the public amenities in the constituency, not complaining many times yet nothing is being done by DBKL.
Similar complaints have also been made to the Minister of Local Government Development Nga Kor Meng on a number of occasions, why still no actions? How many times has Nga responded to inform what actions are taken to rectify the problem? Not even a single response! Worse is when there is no action on the ground.
The whole stretch of road from Segambut to Kepong is riddled with potholes from time to time and the patching of these potholes are poorly done. Try driving along this stretch of road and you will see the poor workmanship by DBKL.
If the mayor continues to ignore people’s complaints, why keep him? Sack him! Cannot sack him? Cold storage him then. Take disciplinary actions if necessary. Ingkar perintah is a serious offence in the civil service. Do our politicians know this or they just allow the civil servants to bully them?
The problem I see in some of our ministers is their inablility to control the civil servants. Some do not even bother, and they carry on with their own agenda when they took on a ministry or state exco position. In the end, it is the people like you and I who suffer from all the poor public amenities.
The lackadaisical attitude of civil servants continue to plague this nation. You can complain about the local government, and politicians just ignore you because they themselves either do not care or do not know how to intervene in some cases such as the Uncle Patrick Khoo's fiasco.
Tell me how you feel if you were Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye
Even complaints by former Bukit Bintang MP Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye has fallen on deaf ears. He has also complained to me about the Pudu Ulu Park, and I have conveyed his concerns regarding this non-performing MP to the senior people in PH.
Yet no one can do anything to solve the mayor’s non-performance issue. Sad! I can only tell the complainants I gave done my part and done it on a voluntary basis. Now I am only voicing my frustration with the way the country is run.
As netizens, our tolerance towards these non-performing civil servants is only up to a certain level. That is why after numerous attempts to inform this mayor of the problems on the ground, I have decided to call for his removal.
The call to sack the mayor is a very strong word to use, and technically, the civil servants know that theirs is a golden rice bowl. But if they remain unperturbed even when complaints go all the way up to his minister, such persons should not continue to helm an agency like DBKL. Not only him, but the chief secretary to the federal govenrment who is responsible in picking such people to helm an important agency like DBKL. DBKL's failure to perform its work affects ALL of us on the ground: potholes, rubbish, illegal traders, dirty eateries, poor streetlighting, poor town planning, etc.
Complaints have been made, but, will our politicians listen? This is why I say politicians don’t need to campaign once every five years if they are doing a good job for the people. But are our politicians even bothered to respond to complaints? If we can see that they have been performing as a good government after five years, we will vote for them. But, not all of our politicians are doing their job well.
Of course my hopes are we will have a good government but are we? We shall see.
Look at the response I received from a netizen after I shared my blog post:

Yes, I have bn having the same experiences making many complaints to DBKL, on behalf of my tmn residents. Long story.... I finally complained to PM dept Public Complaints Bureau, they gave me a rather perfunctory reply.... Another long story... All politicians have their own agenda, that's my conclusion.
ReplyDeletehttps://dbkl-improve-your-services.blogspot.com/2024/02/terimakasih-kepada-menteri-yb-yb.html THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT. In this case, it is the DBKL. I have been dealing with DBKL since the 90s. They have gone from bad to worse. In this instance, someone took my complaint to the level of the MPs and minister. Why should this have to happen this way? Why can't DBKL do a better job? The answer is: you know what kind of attitude we have in our civil service. The good ones are not allowed to shine, the bad apples continue to spoil the reputation of the council. When you have a good chief, your people behave better. But when a wrong guy is appointed, even when Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye complained as Chairman of the Friends of the Park of Pudu Ulu Recreation Park over a year ago, nothing has improved. It's all lip service from the current mayor.
